Exporting to MS Project
This option creates a file in a suitable format to be imported into MS Project. MS
Project will build a time line (one day for each row) and show the prerequisites for each
row.
The file created has the following columns:
Row Number
Row Name
Duration (always '1d')
Start Date (1st available weekday)
End Date (Same as Start Date)
Prerequisites List (separated by commas)
Importation Instructions:
MS Project 4
- From the file menu choose open
- Enter the name of the CSV file
- From the Import Dialog choose 'Read Tasks' and 'Entry'
- Project will make a Gantt chart.
MS Project 97
- Click on 'File' On File menu, click on Open
- In the File Open dialog box:
Look in: fine folder with your .CSV file
Files of type: select CSV from pull down list
Double Click on name of your CSV file in large box.
- In Selective data window select Default task information
Click on New Map
Under Data to import/export select button Tasks
Under Text file options deselect Export header row/Import includes headers
- Click on tab Task Mapping
- For each of the entries click on the To: Microsoft Project Field and select from the
pull down menu to get the following map
To: Microsoft Project Field From: Text file field
(not mapped) 1
Name 2
Duration 3
(not mapped) 4
(not mapped) 5
Predecessors 6
- Give this Map the name Import from PSM32, Click OK
- When it returns to the earlier open dialog box, click OPEN
- THEREAFTER WITHIN MS PROJECT 98
- Click on File', On File menu, click on Open
- In the File Open dialog box:
Look in: find folder with your .CSV file
Files of type: select CSV from pull down list
Double Click on name of your CSV file in large box.
- In Selective data window select Import from PSM32 Click on Open
